Dial-Up Magic - Change History
by TechMagic, L.L.C.
5/16/1999 - Version 1.8
- New standalone interface for importing and exporting.
- New interface allows importing and exporting on Windows NT 4.0
10/14/1998 - Version 1.7
- Added support for dialing locations on Windows 98
- Export executables now work on Windows NT
10/09/1997 - Version 1.6.0
- Added a /l parameter to export executable to allow a phone list file to be specified at
the time the export executable is run.
- When using a phone list file, it was possible for the user to proceed from the phone
number selection dialog without selecting a phone number. The user is now required to
select a phone number before proceeding.
- There is now an option available to allow the user to select which connections to import
when there are multiple connections in the import/export file.
- There used to be a problem with connections that did not contain an area code. This
problem is fixed and connections can now be imported that do not have an area code.
06/10/1997 - Version 1.5.2
- When exporting, the user's current default directory was changed to the directory path a
connection was exported to. For example, if a connection was exported to A:\WorldNet.dun,
then the current directory was set to A:\ Since Dial-Up Magic runs as an Explorer shell
extension, this had the side effect of setting the default directory to A:\ for a lot of
other applications. Opening Paint or Notepad for example and then doing a File, Open would
go first to the A:\ drive to look for files to open. Since it is not especially easy for a
user to change the current directory for Explorer, Dial-Up Magic was modified to not
change the current directory after specifying the export location.
05/26/1997 - Version 1.5.1
- Fixed a problem that prevented mutliple connections from being exported to the same
file. When exporting multiple connections, if a connection did not have a script
associated with it, that connection and any subsequent connections would not be written to
the export file. This problem has been corrected and all connections are now properly
written to the export file.
04/27/97 - Version 1.4.2
- The column widths in the Choose Phone Number dialog, which is displayed during import,
were made wider. This allows long location names to be read easier.
- A new option was added that can be set during export. This options allows the exporter
to indicate that the user's first phone number selection be used for all connection
entries using the same phone number list. During import, once the user selects a phone
number from a list, all connections that were exported with that same phone number list
will be assigned the user's phone number selection.
- Fixed a problem with system that had no modems installed. The program was incorrectly
terminating without an error message or importing the connection. The program now displays
a message indicating the user needs to install a modem and try the import again.
03/13/97 - Version 1.4.1
- Added the ability to export and import dialing locations. A new command has been added
to the Export dialog that allows the user to select from the list of dialing locations
configured on the source system. The selected dialing locations are stored in the export
file and then imported onto the destination system. Options are also available to control
how locations should be imported if a location with the same name already exists on the
destination system.
- Added sorting to the select telephone number list dialog. This feature allows the user
to click on the column headings for locations, country code, area code, and telephone
number to indicate the list should be sorted by that column. This is useful during import
to locate a telephone number in a certain location or area code quickly.
- Telephone list are stored more efficiently in the export file. Previously a copy of the
telephone list was stored with each connection in the export file. This has been changed
to only store each unique list once. The connections then reference the appropriate list.
This has the effect of increasing the amount of space available in the export file for
storing telephone lists and connections.
- Fixed a bug with scripts containing tab characters not being exported and imported
correctly. If a connection's script had tab characters in the middle of a line, that
script would not be stored correctly in the export file. This obviously had the effect of
not importing the script correctly onto the destination system.
- Scripting installed check enhanced to support Windows 95 SR2. Windows 95 SR always
installs scripting when Dial-Up Networking is installed. Unfortunately, this version of
the operating system did not configure the registry as in previous versions, thus Dial-Up
Magic's scripting installed check did not work correctly. Dial-Up Magic has been enhanced
to check the operating system version and now correctly determines if scripting is
installed when running under Windows 95 SR2. The ISDN update released by Microsoft also
installs scripting differently. Dial-Up Magic now correctly determines if scripting is
installed properly in this case also.
02/17/97 - Versions 1.4.0
- Added new option to initial export dialog to allow the user name and password for a
connection to be included in the export file. By checking this option, the current user
name and password for each connection being exported is included in the export file. When
the connection is imported, this user name and password is associated with the imported
connection.
